Hello and Welcome!
I'm excited to share details about my upcoming book here.
John Baitsell Jr.
John Baitsell Jr is a recovery coach and writer in Bedford Corners, New York, where he owns Willow Walker Farm, a horse-boarding operation, and keeps bees with his wife Christine. He has two sons, two grandchildren, and three godchildren.
His road ran the long way around—an Episcopal childhood, years through Eastern religions and the New Age, and decades in twelve-step recovery. He was never seeking an alternative to Christ; he was seeking truth in service of love. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, moved him out into the wilderness and back, until he came to know Christ as the truth, the light, and the life.
For fifteen years he preached at Memorial Methodist Church in White Plains, delivering some ninety sermons. He hosted Insight on WFAS radio and produced the cable program The Amends Show. Before any of it, he spent ten years as a professional stand-up comic in New York and up and down the East Coast—the training that still shapes how he talks about serious things.
He is a member of Stanwich Church and at times leads a Thursday morning men's Bible study. He also sits at a Saturday Torah table as the only Christian in the room, and walks alongside people in recovery. His first book, Came to Believe: Out to the Fringe and Back, is a spiritual memoir for young men navigating the meaning crisis.
He summers on Cape Cod, where his family's roots reach back a century.
